I’m Charles Max Wood. I’m a follower of Jesus Christ, father, programmer, podcaster, and entrepreneur.

Personal Life

I’m Charles Max Wood. I grew up in Orem and graduated from Orem High School.

After high school, I attended BYU for a semester and then went on a mission to Italy for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

When I returned, I continued my education at BYU and received a Bachelors Degree in Computer Engineering with a minor in Italian.

I worked in IT from 2001 until 2006. I ran the support department at an online computer backup company in 2007 and 2008 where I learned to love programming and podcasting.

I started producing podcasts and tutorial videos for programmers in 2008. Today I run a podcast network with 9 shows and approximately 50,000 weekly listeners.

My career as a software developer has included working as a freelancer as well as working for startups and large companies like Morgan Stanley

I met my wife at BYU. I graduated from BYU a few months before our second child was born.

We live in Lehi and have 5 children.

My mom and 6 or my 9 siblings also live in Utah. 5 of my siblings and my mom live in Utah County.

Achievements and Positions Held

I’m currently on a leave of absence as the Vice Chair for Utah County Republican Party.

As the Vice Chair I spearheaded the upcoming updates to the party website as the first step in enhancing our ability to attract and communicate with party members, officers, and delegates.

I also spearheaded revitalizing the recurring donations element to fundraise for the party in our Elephant Society club. I’ve arranged topics, speakers, and locations for club meetings around Utah County.

I’ve also served on the board of Odyssey Charter School for 11 years. My term ends on October 1, 2023.

During my time on the board, we oversaw the purchase of the building the school is in. I also took a stand on a number of books in the school library and helped set policy on a variety of issues around the school.

I spent 4 years as the board’s chair and 2 as the board’s secretary.

I have also served as a Legislative District Vice Chair and as a Precinct Chair in the Republican Party.
